If you were not able to attend a church service today or were just not willing, I would invite you to Life Church online today and for the rest of this week.  Pastor Craig gave an amazing message today, as he does every week, and I think you would really learn a lot from it.  Please, take a few minutes out of your day and watch this powerful message!!

]]> http://momlovesbeingathome.com/2008/12/23/merry-christmas-2/feed/ 0 I am blessed http://momlovesbeingathome.com/2008/12/18/i-am-blessed/ http://momlovesbeingathome.com/2008/12/18/i-am-blessed/#comments Thu, 18 Dec 2008 15:52:54 +0000 momlovesbeingathome http://momlovesbeingathome.wordpress.com/?p=621 I’ve had a lot of things rolling around in my mind recently, things I’ve thought about sitting down and writing about.  I just haven’t made the time to sit down and do it.  I’ve been trying to focus on my family and on Christmas.  I love this time of year.  I’m such a holiday person and really get into all the holiday things.  I love the lights, the music, the excitement of knowing God and knowing that He came to earth in the flesh – it’s just so awesome!  Sometimes it does trigger sad feelings for me though – although not always.  I don’t really have the extended family with which to gather and be cheerful with for the holidays.  I do have some family that I see and I love that but I have family that I don’t see and sometimes that’s hard.  My dad has never really been a very big part of my life and sometimes that’s hard to take.  I haven’t heard from him in four years (this time) and sometimes I just find myself sitting and wondering why.  Why does my dad not care about me?  Why does he choose to go on about his life and with his family and forget that I exist?  Honestly, at this point (actually I reached this point a long time ago) I can say that I don’t want him in my life.  I’ve let him back in many times only for him to hurt me again.  I decided not to even let him in again – it’s just not worth it.  I was actually doing well and hadn’t given any of this much thought and hadn’t gotten upset in a long time but I came across something on the internet the other day and found out some things that just made it all come flooding in.

Anyway, that’s not exactly how I intended this post to start!

On to happier things- we get to go out of town this weekend to see our very dearest friends in the whole wide world and we are all SO excited!!!  We only get to see them a couple of times a year so it’s so exciting when it happens.  We are trying really hard to get them to move here though so if that happened we would be on cloud nine!  If you guys happen to think of us you could pray that they’ll move here.   ;)

I’m really excited about Christmas with my husband and kids.  I’m looking forward to giving the gifts and spending the time just hanging out together.  Even though we are a homeschooling family and we see each other all the time, I always look forward to Christmas break just to be able to sit and relax and spend time together and not worry about getting school work done and schedules and all that.  We are very ready for it to begin!! :)

You know, overall I feel so extremely blessed with my life.  I have the best husband a girl could ask for, two kids who are just the most outstanding people on the planet, a great home where we all feel comfortable (except that it’s stinkin’ cold right now!!) and peaceful, all the things that I need, but most of all a God who loves me – who loves me enough that He sent His son into the world to save me. I’m so very thankful for that!

Remember, without Christ there would be no CHRISTmas!

My top are:

1. Jesus – who saved me

2. my husband – who I’ve spent the last 20 years with and am so in love with

3. my children – it just doesn’t get any better than my two children – they are the best kids ever!

4. my friends – I have a large group of girls I can call friends and that’s not always been something I could say.  I’m very thankful to have them in my life.

5. my church and pastor – we go to a church where the Truth is taught and no apologies are made for sticking with the Truth, i’ts been a wonderful blessing!

6. the ability and freedom to educate my children at home – we have such a strong family and such a closeness with our children that we would never have had if we hadn’t chosen to homeschool

Other random things I’m thankful for:

our piano teacher – she is such a blessing in our lives

the ability to hear my daughter play the piano and sing – she is an amazingly gifted musician. :)

my husband’s happiness with his job

the ability to watch my son play football and soccer – he’s such a talented athlete and does so well in sports

time with my family

the Bible study that I’m a part of right now – it’s helping me to be a better child of God, wife, and mother

a nice home to live in – it may not be the most extravagant home there is but I love my house and I love being in it!

candles to light to make things smell good :)

yummy food to cook and seeing my family’s face light up when I set dinner on the table

hot water, electricity, heat, etc. – many in the world can’t say they have these

my own Bible to study from – many in the world are not able to own their own Bible

my computer – to communicate with everyone so easily!

my camera – to capture my children as they grow so quickly

the library – to have a never ending supply of books available to me is a wonderful thing!

music – God speaks to me through music so much – it really touches my soul

I could go on and on but I’ll stop there.  What about you?  What are you thankful for?
