Can I be honest? I read some of the links provided by the blog you linked to and I am bewildered by some of what I read. Truthfully, I skimmed here and there and didn’t read them all (because frankly the articles are VERY lengthy) but the main problem the author had with her seemed rooted in the idea that she is ‘new age’ because she claims to speak and have conversations with God.

Okay. First, I am very (perhaps sinfully) envious of her close relationship with God. When she speaks of Him. it NEVER fails to inspire me to spend more time with God, so that I, too, could be that intimate with Him! It doesn’t seem ‘new age’ to me, it is deeply rooted in a relationship and a love and passion for God like I’ve never seen and truly aspire to find within myself.

Second, I truly do believe God speaks to our hearts if we listen. The person who wrote the main article I skimmed even nitpicked that statement (God speaking to our heart) like this: “What this means I am not entirely sure. I am going to presume that ‘heart’ here means mind since the literal organ that pumps blood would not have the capacity to receive such a revelation. I am also going to presume that God did not speak audibly, otherwise He would have spoken to her ears, possibly, rather than the heart. It was more of a telepathic communication from the mind of God to the mind of Beth Moore, possibly.”

C’mon. Isn’t that silly, not to mention snarky and sarcastic? Of course she wasn’t speaking literally about her organ the heart. And to presume she is talking about telepathy? Sigh. The article is FULL of that kind of silly word-picking-apart sarcasm that to me was ridiculous and lends no credibility to the author whatsoever.

What she says God tells her has never come across as unBiblical to me. I haven’t read ALL of her stuff, mind you, but enough to know that she isn’t a wack job. In fact, she uses the Bible to back up her teachings more than most Bible studies and books I’ve seen! She truly has a desire to be as true to God’s word as possible, and speaks of it OFTEN, and I wonder if the person who wrote the articles really read much of her work or watched her studies. It doesn’t seem so.

Personally, I am VERY picky about who I take instruction from, and I have no reservations about Beth Moore at this point. Of course, I have never met a preacher, teacher, or what-have-you that I’ve agreed with 100%, including her, but trust me I’m the first one who will RUN at the sight of outright ERROR or deception. Trust me. I’ve lost friends because of leaving two different churches for this very reason. I do not tolerate outright twisting of doctrine EVER. It is my number one pet peeve, if you want to call it that.

Okay. Long winded. But I was just really shocked at the tone and content of the articles, to be honest. This person seemed angry at the idea Beth has a ‘direct pipeline to God…’ when frankly, I think we all can have that, if only we spend time and listen.

I just wrote a whopper of a post today. haha!

Anyway, yes, I do think she’s really good. Have you felt she is completely Biblical in all she says? I read a post the other day that Neil at http://4simpsons.wordpress.com/2010/03/07/roundup-133/ posted and he had a link to an article about Beth Moore that was very interesting. He was saying that some of the things she says don’t seem to measure up to what Scripture says. I didn’t read the whole thing but it did make me think about her some. I do try to be cautious when studying a person’s materials rather than the Bible but that article really does make me realize how important it is to weigh everything someone teaches against Scripture to make sure it’s Biblical. I’d love to know what you think!

I love, love, love her stuff, too. In fact, right now I’m using her ’90 days with Jesus’ study as my morning devotional. It’s short but packed full of good stuff.
