Today's thoughts

By momlovesbeingathome

I haven’t really had the time (or the desire for some reason) to sit down and blog the last few days.  Just to let you know I’m still alive though here are a few thoughts.  ;)

I can’t believe Carly and Seyesha were in the bottom two last night on American Idol.  I especially can’t believe Carly went home.  She was one of my favorites.  I really think it’s going to come down to the Davids though.  Both of them are amazing!!

I’m sad that Biggest Loser won’t be back on until October.  :(

Speaking of October, we have a new Target and JCPenny going in and it’s supposed to open in October!  YEA!

At the complex where I coach softball and my daughter plays, I think we have the worst umps in the world.  Sometimes I get so mad I just want to scream in their faces.  (And sometimes worse.) I can totally see why some of those MLB coaches do that sometimes!  It totally frustrates me to see the umps take it away from the girls by making really bad calls.

We’ve had some lovely spring weather recently.  All my flowers and plants are coming in really well and I have lots of really pretty flowers blooming.

My daughter got braces this week and it wasn’t too bad at first but her mouth got really swollen on the second evening and she’s having a hard time eating and talking because of it.  She only got the first 6 brackets put on her top teeth.  Now she has to have four teeth pulled and then every 6 weeks get some more put on.  Eventually she’ll have them all.  If you think of her please pray for her though.  She’s doing pretty well but it’s really rubbing on the inside of her top lip and bothering her.

My son is in a football camp this week and is having a really good time.  He’s never played football before so it’s new to him but he’s doing great.  They are working them pretty hard so he’s pretty sore.  Every time he gets up he kind of moans about it.  It’s kind of funny to watch.  (Don’t worry, he’s laughing too.   )

Used book sales for homeschoolers in our area start this week!!  I’m so excited!  I LOVE going to these.  I never know what kind of awesome deal I’ll find there.  :)

This is basically our last week of school.  YIPPEE!!!  We are pretty excited and ready to be finished.  My son still has a little bit of math and science to finish but I think other than that we’ll finish by next Tuesday.

Well, I guess that’s enough thoughts for now.  Hope everyone is having a fabulous day!

  1. I will say a prayer for your daughter right now.

    Blessings,

    Debbie

Oh, I remember new braces! Ouch!!! Did the orthodontist give you any of that wax to put on the braces? It’s just to cover the areas that especially bite into the insides of her lips, etc.

And, you’re coaching softball? I missed that, somehow. I love softball! I love baseball, too, but I played softball for years. Love it. I’m proud of you for coaching!! Kids need coaches who care, and at least you care enough for your girls, and understand the game well enough that you advocate for them with the umps! I know with our umps, it’s only a wee step up from volunteer, and often times, the parents (and coaches) know more about the rules than the umps do! And those strike zones… Ugh!

And, golly, this is your last week of school??!!?? Wow. Since we take breaks over the course of the school year (and last fall, didn’t get started until the 2nd Monday in September), we won’t be done until June 14! It’s the time of year when I start feeling tempted to not fulfill our entire 35 weeks as mandated by our state, especially since no one is going to check in, and my kids are starting to complete their math books, etc….

  3. Thanks so much, Debbie! Those prayers are already working. :)

Karen, the lady that checked my daughter out neglected to give her wax so she suffered when she really shouldn’t have. We did stop by and get her some today though. I told her I felt awful that we didn’t go sooner but when I had braces I had more trouble with my back braces than the front so I didn’t even think about wax helping at this point. When we got it and she put it on she said it was a difference of night and day! So, all that to say that she’s doing really well now. :)

Yes, I coach softball. This is my 3rd year and I coach (assistant coach that is) 16U girls. Thanks for your kind words. That’s so sweet of you. I do love it. I love the girls and I love the game. I played softball from age 10 through most of high school. I’d play it now if there was a team for me to play on. :) The strike zones… we don’t even want to get started on those!

Yes, this is our last week. We start in mid August and we usually don’t take as many breaks as the public schools do so we finish faster. We don’t really count days either. We go until we finish the book of each subject. If they finish it a month early then they’re done with that subject. I figure if they finish the whole book then they’ve learned a year’s worth of material. There’s no reason to keep going just to get in more “days.” It usually averages out to about 175 days for the year though – which is how many days the public schools go here. I can’t even imagine going until the middle of June!! I feel for you!

    Thanks for commenting, girls!

    Hey girl!

Looks like you’ve been away from your computer for awhile too, huh??

Glad to hear your daughter is doing better. And I can’ t believe you’re done with school already! Good for you.

    Hope you are doing well!

  5. Hey, Missy! Yes, I just haven’t had much time to be on the computer. I have a couple of things I’m going to try to make time to post about this week but we’ll see what happens. ;)

Thanks for your good wishes! Hope you’re doing well too! :)
