I posted about Ben Stein and the movie he’s creating called “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed” awhile back but came across this article recently and wanted to share it. Here’s an excerpt from the article – a question/answer I thought was very interesting:

AFA: How have many of the Darwinists responded?
Stein: Oh, they’re very angry people, they’re very angry. … [Y]ou know what I wonder – if they’re so sure that they’re right, why do they have to be so angry and defensive about it? If their position is unassailably correct, if there’s no doubt whatsoever that they’re right, why do they have to be so angry and attack anyone who even questions [Darwinism]? … We’re just asking a question, could it be [that] Darwinism doesn’t have all the answers? People are acting as if we are coming in and burning down their universities. They’re going crazy. …

Click the link above and read the whole article! It’s very interesting!!

I don’t think so!!! Take a look at what Focus Action published this week:

What does it take to be the most liberal member of the United States Senate – farther left than Ted Kennedy, John Kerry or even Hillary Clinton? For the answer, take a look at a man who could be the next president of the United States: Barack Obama.

Sen. Obama was recently named the most liberal U.S. Senator, based on the annual voting analysis by the non-partisan and highly respected National Journal. If he emerges as the Democratic nominee, one of the critical jobs of Focus Action will be to uncover the real Barack Obama—not the feel-good orator who speaks of “change” and “hope,” but the man who would be the most left-wing president in our nation’s history. And we’ll need your continued help to do so.

Obama: As extreme as they come on family issues
On abortion, Obama’s 100 percent lifetime voting record from Planned Parenthood and NARAL only begins to tell the story.

  • While in the Illinois State Senate six years ago, Obama was the only senator to speak against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which protects babies who are born alive after a failed abortion. In other words, it prevents flat-out infanticide. A year later— while the U.S. Senate was passing Born Alive 98-0 – state Sen. Obama quietly killed an identical bill in the state committee he chaired!
  • Not surprisingly, then, he also opposes the ban on partial-birth abortion and supports allowing minor girls to be transported across state lines for abortions without parental notice or consent.
  • Perhaps most chilling is his avowed support for the Freedom of Choice Act, which, if signed into law, would threaten every pro-life law passed at the state and federal levels over the past 30 years.
  • In addition, while the next president could effectively overturn Roe v. Wade with the right Supreme Court appointments, Obama is proudly committed to appointing judges who will uphold legal abortion. In fact, his judicial philosophy is typical of the radical left. He believes that judges can change the meaning of the Constitution at their discretion. Not surprisingly, he voted against the nominations of Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito.

How about marriage and the homosexual agenda?

  • First, he opposes the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). If given the chance by the liberal Congress, Obama will overturn DOMA, potentially forcing every state to recognize homosexual “marriages” and guaranteeing that you and I pay federal benefits to support homosexual couples. Please note: Technically, he says he is “opposed” to same-sex “marriage,” but by standing against DOMA, he is standing against the only thing that prevents same-sex marriages from spreading state to state.
  • Second, he has pledged to homosexual leaders that he will sign the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (forcing businesses to defend themselves against discrimination lawsuits should they not hire a particular candidate who then announces he or she is homosexual or transsexual). He also supports hate-crimes expansion (potentially putting churches at risk if they preach the truth about homosexuality).
  • Then there’s his support for teaching schoolchildren (in 2nd grade, no less) about homosexual relationships. He also wants to require women to register for the draft. And, as a state senator, he even refused to support a measure to stop sex businesses from opening near schools or places of worship!

The price of “change”: Hold on to your wallet!
Sen. Obama talks constantly about the need for “change.” But what he doesn’t tell you is the price tag, so allow me: It will be very expensive change.

He supports raising taxes to pay for universal health care, his free college program and a host of other government expansions. Among his pet projects is a bill he sponsored called the Global Poverty Act, which would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid. Over 13 years, that will amount to a whopping $845 billion increase over current foreign-aid spending! Get your checkbooks ready!

National security?
One area where Sen. Obama seems to have an aversion to spending is the War on Terror. But it’s not just the admittedly controversial war in Iraq where Obama has shown himself to be soft on terror:

  • He has repeatedly voted against funding our troops in Iraq—unless the funding included a date certain by which our soldiers must withdraw from their fight against al Qaeda. Even with the troop surge producing superb results, Obama has called both the surge and the war a failure. In fact, he and Hillary seem to be in a rhetorical contest to see who can abandon the battlefield first.
  • He, along with Hillary, voted to give captured terrorists and illegal immigrants constitutional rights that are reserved for American citizens. Can you believe that Sen. Obama actually favors granting citizenship to illegal immigrants convicted of crimes against children, aggravated felonies and other serious crimes? It’s true.
  • Perhaps, then, it should come as no surprise that Obama also voted against a resolution proposing a constitutional amendment to protect the American flag from desecration.

One has to ask: Did he learn anything from 9/11?

Ditto for Hillary?
On most of the issues I’ve mentioned, Hillary isn’t far behind Obama’s extremism. In fact, she ranked as the 16th most liberal senator in National Journal’s scoring. But the reality is that most people know about Hillary. They remember her push for government-run health care. They know of her radical pro-abortion stance. They may even recall her support for allowing young children to sue their parents.

Obama, though, is the new kid on the block. In fact, a little more than three years ago, he was still an Illinois state senator. Now, the media is fawning over him … and isn’t about to delve into his leftist record.

I’ve shared this on here before but it’s just so funny I wanted to share it again.

Many women are afraid of their first mammogram, but there is no need to worry. By taking a few minutes each day for a week preceding the exam and doing the following exercises, you will be totally prepared for the test and best of all, you can do these simple exercises right in and around your home.

EXERCISE ONE:

Open your refrigerator door and insert one breast in door. Shut the door as hard as possible and lean on the door for good measure. Hold that position for five seconds. Repeat again in case the first time wasn’t effective enough.

EXERCISE TWO:

Visit your garage at 3AM when the temperature of the cement floor is just perfect. Take off all your clothes and lie comfortably on the floor with one breast wedged under the rear tire of the car. Ask a friend to slowly back the car up until your breast is sufficiently flattened and chilled. Turn over and repeat with the other breast.

EXERCISE THREE:

Freeze two metal bookends overnight. Strip to the waist. Invite a stranger into the room. Press the bookends against one of your breasts.

Smash the bookends together as hard as you can. Set up an appointment with the stranger to meet next year and do it again.

YOU ARE TOTALLY PREPARED!

AND, just a thought for all the women out there……..

MENtal illness, MENstrual cramps, MENtal breakdown,
MENopause…………

Ever notice how all of women’s problems start with men?………And

When we have real trouble it’s HISterectomy!!!!

Now remember, this was just for fun – I’m not trying to bash males. I happen to love the man in my life VERY much! )

In 1990 a New York public school teacher, John Taylor Gatto, won teacher of the year and gave a very extraordinary acceptance speech called Why Schools Don’t Educate. I have had a copy of this speech for years and wanted to share it with you. I would encourage every parent to read this speech. If you are wondering if homeschooling works, if you are wondering if the public school system will do a good job of teaching your children – you should read this speech. It just might change the way you think about education! To read this and other things by John Taylor Gotto you can go to a website called The Preservation Institute.

Have you heard about this? Here is a letter I got from the American Family Association:

Homosexual Day of Silence – Is Your Child’s School on the List?

Because of the action of concerned parents, hundreds of schools have removed their school as a listed participant in the pro-homosexual “Day of Silence.” You can join the fight for your children too!On, Friday, April 25, several thousand schools across the nation will be observing “Day of Silence (DOS).” DOS is a nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools. When AFA alerted parents of this public school classroom disruption by homosexual student activists, many took action immediately! If you haven’t gotten involved, it’s critical that you do so today!

A simple phone call or letter to school administrators, telling them your child will not attend school the day it observes DOS, may be enough to cause some participating schools to change their plans. Sample letter here.

Please listen to a 60-second radio ad warning parents about Day of Silence, then forward this email to your local Christian or conservative radio station. Ask them to broadcast it as a Public Service Announcement (PSA)! MP3 file or WAV file

Click here for Frequently Asked Questions about the Day of Silence.

In the past week alone, over 200 schools have announced they are dropping plans to participate. Please, get involved for the sake or your children, and all children, today!

Take Action!

What should parents do? Check with your local school principal to see if your child’s school will be participating in DOS. If the school is participating, notify other parents about DOS and ask them to join in keeping their children out of school on that day.

Here is a partial list of schools which are expected to participate in DOS: If your school is listed, call your local school and ascertain whether they officially or passively allow students to observe “Day of Silence.” If your school is listed, please double-check with your local school to see if the school is actually sponsoring DOS. Sometimes the “participation” turns out to be a handful of kids who are saying they have a homosexual club and are observing this protest day, but without school endorsement. We sincerely hope your school, if listed, is not actually an official sponsor. If it is not, we will take them off the list, if a school official asks us to do so. Please e-mail your correction to webmaster@missionamerica.com.

Some tips:

  1. Be sure of the date that DOS is planned for your school. (The national date is April 25, but some schools observe DOS on a different date.)
  2. Inform the school of your intention to keep your child home on that date and explain why. Click here for a sample letter.
  3. Explain to your children why you’re taking a stand: Homosexual behavior is not an innate identity; it is a sinful, unnatural and destructive behavior. No school should advance a physically, emotionally, and spiritually destructive sexual lifestyle to students.
  4. Schools do not have to tolerate students remaining silent in class. Schools can adopt policies that require parental consent for students to attend any club, including those premised on sexual orientation or gender identity. Click here for more information from Attorney Mat Staver with Liberty Counsel who provides free information to parents, students, and schools regarding their rights associated with noncompliance on the Day of Silence.

Sincerely,

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman American Family Association

A little venting

Posted by: momlovesbeingathome | Comments (7)

I normally don’t post more than one thing a day but I have to take a few minutes to vent a little.  I just received a phone call asking me to work in the church nursery this Sunday.  While that’s not such a strange request on the surface, when you realize that we haven’t attended this church for several months it’s a little different.  We had attended this church regularly for about six months but then decided it wasn’t the right place for us.  The main reason we decided that we didn’t want to be a part of this church was because the people there were not good at connecting with anyone outside of their own circles.  There didn’t seem to be any desire to welcome people and disciple them.  The entire time we were there we were never befriended, invited to anything, or sought out for any group or anything.  The only people that spoke to us were the greeters at the doors each week.  Once we were inside we seemingly ceased to exist.  We even went to a class and filled out this long application/questionnaire that was supposed to provide information for the church so that they could contact us and help place us in a small group or area of ministry where we would be a good fit.  Nobody ever called us.  Our kids went to youth group and nobody (outside of one kid that they knew from somewhere else) ever spoke to them.  Each week we would pick them up and ask if they talked to anyone or if anyone talked to them.  The answer was always no.  The thing about this that really bothers me is that when they first started going to the youth group they went to a small group on the first week that they had them.  They both decided they weren’t ready to do that and wanted to just go to the main group at first.  They each had a handful of kids in their group as well as a couple of leaders.  None of those people ever spoke to them again.  I would have thought that at least the leaders would have found them or even called them and asked if they were coming back or something but they never did.  How is a church supposed to minister to the community and the lost when they don’t even minister to the people that walk in their door! Now, I’m not trying to say that it’s all the church’s responsibility and not in any way ours.  But we did what we thought we were supposed to do to get plugged in and nothing happened.

To get back to the phone call, after this lady asked me to work I told her that we don’t go to church there anymore and she asked if I could tell her why.  I told her there were many reasons but the gist of it was that we didn’t feel connected there and as an example I told her about my kids’ experience with the youth group.  I think she was kind of speechless at first.  I think she might have been a little embarrassed too.   She proceeded to apologize several times but really what good does that do?  The church (meaning the whole body of Christ – not just this particular church) needs to realize that its job is to minister to the community, to disciple believers, to reach out to the lost.  It’s not just a time to gather for social hour on Sunday morning.

Okay, venting session over.  Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. ;)
