Yes, I'm anxious to read the next one now! I LOVE it when authors do a series and carry the same character through a bunch of books. :)

YAY! I am glad you liked it! I like to picture myself as Mrs. P. when I get older (I need better hats tho!)--I would probably end up traveling the country fixing baking mishaps instead of rescuing spies tho! :?

Hey, Joy! I've read some of James Scott Bell but he's the only one out of the ones you listed. I'll have to check those all out! Thanks for sharing! :)

dandelionmom, I finished Mrs. Pollifax last night. It was really good!

Have you read Angela Hunt or Randy Alcorn (of Eternal Perspective Ministries, epm.org)? They're two of my favorite Christian authors.

Randy's the author of Heaven (a fantastic non-fiction book about heaven) and several other wonderful Christian fiction novels (Deadline, Dominion, Deception, Safely Home, Lord Foulgrin's Letters, etc.).

A couple of my faves of Angela's are The Debt (a very unique view on what ministry can be) and The Shadow Women (the story of Moses from the perspective of his Egyptian mother, Miriam, and Zipporah). She's a fantastic writer and you can't go wrong with any of her books.

Then of course there's James Scott Bell and Robert Whitlow (Christian lawyers turned authors).

Stephen R. Lawhead also has an amazing historical fiction book called Byzantium that was completely engrossing.

Debbie, yes, I don't have a typical "nightstand" - it's a chest but my stack of books is kind of tall sometimes. ;) I haven't actually started all of these so I guess I should have said what I'm going to read. :) Yes, that discussion was interesting to say the least!

dandelionmom, you have nothing to feel guilty about!!! That's my favorite genre to read!! I'm thrilled to find a new mystery author to read. I had to get the oil changed on my car yesterday and took that with me to read but they were really fast so I only got in a few pages! I'm looking forward to reading more. :)

Janeen, I'm right there with ya! It's been awhile since I've been able to just sit down and read. I kind of go through phases and I'll read a ton of books and then go weeks without reading anything. I'm trying to get myself back into a reading phase - which is why I stocked up on some good books to read. ;)

Lori Wick is one of my favorite authors. I wish I had time to read. It's been a couple of months since I've gotten into a really good book.

I feel guilty recommending Mrs.Polifax when you have Hind's Feet on High Places sitting there too!! Save Mrs. P for when you can't think deeply and absorb things-when you need diversion-NOT enlightenment--maybe a bubblebath? She is great fun for a mystery lover but Hernard really lifts the spirits! 8O

Ok, you have a really big nightstand :)
It's so funny because I have bookmarks in so many books it seems silly. Some have been in there way to long!!!
P.S. - The discussion on John McCain was interesting huh?

I keep saying to myself that I need to get some Charles Swindoll books. I enjoy the bits and pieces I hear of his sermons on the radio.
