Family

By momlovesbeingathome

Debbie at Real World Martha had a great post the other day about family. Here’s what it said:

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days? But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we poor ourselves more into work than our own family, an unwise investment indeed, don’t you think? So what is behind the story? Do you know what the word FAMILY means? FAMILY = (F)ather (A)nd (M)other (I) (L)ove (Y)ou!

What a great thing to remember! We need to make sure that we are investing in our families and not just everything else that life throws at us!

Excellent points! I’ve observed that no matter how long or at how high a level someone works in a company, they are completely replaceable and often quickly forgotten.

I saw lots of senior executives at Compaq / HP who everyone listened to intently because of their positions. But the day after they left, virtually no one cared what they thought.

  2. So true, Neil! I think in the last ten years or so especially that more and more people are being replaced at an alarming rate in large companies. It’s really quite sad. It just goes to show that you will reap far more rewards by making sure that your family gets the best of you rather than a company – not that you shouldn’t do your best in your job but family should always come first. Just my 2 cents. ;)
